Ex situ carbon mineralization sequesters CO2 within carbonate minerals and is a promising approach to mitigate global climate change. The challenge is to developing technologies that operate at a scale and rate commensurate to anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, locally and globally. Carbon mineralization strategies may operate in a range of low to high temperatures, utilize chemical and biological processes, and be passive to fully engineered. We invite abstracts that discuss fundamental processes and emerging strategies based geochemical and transport modeling, laboratory and field studies including, but not limited to, enhanced weathering, biologically-mediated carbonation, carbonation using industrial reactors and carbonation of industrial wastes.
