On Wednesday 31st. October, we are holding a joint physical/organic chemistry seminar session at Leeds University. This is focussed on carbon capture and storage (CCS), and some of the more chemical aspects of CCS implementation, from CO2 reaction chemistry and utilisation, to the chemistry of amines in the atmosphere. We would also like to encourage people from other Departments and Universities to come along. To book please contact Chris Rayner.

The timetable is as follows:

Chemistry, Lecture Theatre B, Wednesday 31 October.

1.30-2.00 Matthew Billson, Head of Technology Development, UK Government Department of Energy and Climate Change; UK CCS and Energy Policy

2.00-3.00 Prof. Claus Nielson, University of Oslo, CO2 Technology Centre Mongstad – Emission, Dispersion and Atmospheric Chemistry of Amines

3.00-3.20 Prof. Paul Seakins, Oxidation Mechanisms for Amines

3.20-3.40 Prof. Chris Rayner, Carbon Capture Chemistry at Leeds

3.40-4.00 Coffee

4.00-5.00 Prof. Walter Leitner, RWTH Aachen University, From Waste to Value – Catalytic Conversion of CO2 in the Chemical and Energy Supply Chain.
